Full kitchen renovation. Required 30” stainless steel hood fan. Main criteria was it had to be quiet – and of course look good.
Did a lot of research and landed on VEGA 30 from Victory Range hoods. Chose them as the unit had lower or comparable sones to others as well as the ability to move a lot of air. Being a Canadian company helped as well. Reviewed the installation manual to ensure there would be no surprises. At the time the LED Light package was optional, so I added it as well.
Ordered on line. Unit was delivered in the timeframe expected. Now that I had it in my hands, I could see it was high quality - the steel was of a heavy gauge, and components/construction fit together well.
Installation was straight forward. Manual was 95% useful. As we had moved the range location, I had to pop a new hole in the ceiling and run 6” duct to existing roof vent – perhaps 18’ with two 90’s. I would always recommend venting to the outside – the circulating option seems useless to me.
Unit worked perfectly first time. Controls are simple. It is very quiet on “1” and clears the room quickly on “6”.
As far as improvements, there are two I would wish for. First, the manual is missing dimensions for the hood mounting holes above the range to achieve recommended height for the hood itself (28 to 31 inches). Second – while the LED lights are bright, workspace below them could be brighter.
In any case I would recommend Victory Range hoods for any new or renovation projects. If I ever do it again, they will be on the list.
