Which 36-inch island range hood fits my kitchen, the Twister Island or the Twister MAX Island?

Match the hood to your duct size, hang height, and ceiling height. The Twister Island uses a 6-inch or 8-inch round duct, hangs 24 to 30 inches above the cooktop, and fits flat ceilings 8 to 9 feet tall. The Twister MAX Island uses an 8-inch or 10-inch round duct, hangs 28 to 36 inches above the cooktop, and fits flat ceilings up to 9 feet; confirm its minimum ceiling height on the product page. Measure your duct path and ceiling first, then have a qualified installer confirm the routing.

How high should a 36-inch island range hood hang above the cooktop?

Hang the Twister Island 24 to 30 inches above the cooktop and the Twister MAX Island 28 to 36 inches, measured from the cooking surface to the bottom of the hood. Each range comes from that model's installation manual. Victory's island hood guide explains why the range matters: mounted too high, smoke spreads before the hood pulls it in, and mounted too low, heat buildup becomes a concern. Stay inside your model's range, and confirm the chimney covers suit your ceiling height before setting the final height.

Are these 36-inch island range hoods ducted or ductless?

Both models in this collection are ducted-only. The Twister Island and Twister MAX Island vent cooking exhaust outdoors through a round duct from the top of the hood, and neither is designed for a ductless or recirculating installation. If your island has no duct path to the outdoors, look for a model in Victory's ductless collection instead. Plan the route before ordering and keep it short and straight: each model's manual caps the run at 50 feet, and every 90-degree elbow counts as 9 feet of that limit.

Is a 36-inch island range hood wide enough for my cooktop?

A 36-inch island hood adds 3 inches of width on each side of a 30-inch cooktop and is the minimum recommended width for a 36-inch cooktop. Victory's island hood guide advises extending the hood 3 inches beyond each side of the cooktop where possible, because an island hood has no wall behind it and room air currents can push the rising cooking plume sideways. If your 36-inch cooktop sits in an open kitchen, also compare Victory's 42-inch island hoods before deciding. Check hood depth against your cooktop depth too, so the hood reaches the front burners.

How much airflow (CFM) does a 36-inch island range hood need?

The Home Ventilating Institute (HVI) recommends 150 CFM per linear foot of range for an island, which works out to about 450 CFM for a 36-inch cooktop. Both hoods in this collection exceed that at top speed, and each rating depends on duct size: the Twister Island is rated 600 CFM on a 6-inch duct and 750 CFM on an 8-inch duct, and the Twister MAX Island rates higher on its 10-inch duct than its 8-inch duct. For a professional-style cooktop, HVI says to follow the cooktop maker's guidance.

36" Island Mount

Victory's 36" Island Mount collection holds ducted island range hoods for a cooktop with no wall behind it to guide rising smoke and steam. Each model lists its own duct size, hang height, and ceiling height range, and those numbers determine whether the hood fits before looks or price do. Over a 30-inch cooktop, a 36-inch hood gives extra capture width; over a 36-inch cooktop, it is the minimum, so go wider if your layout allows. These hoods are 304 stainless steel with dishwasher-safe baffle filters and mechanical rotary knobs, and are cETLus certified for the United States and Canada.
