Is a 30-inch wall mount range hood suitable for a gas cooktop?

Yes. All of Victory's 30-inch wall mount range hoods are ducted, sending smoke, heat, and combustion byproducts outside instead of recirculating them into the kitchen. The EPA recommends using a fan vented outdoors when cooking with gas, since gas stoves release pollutants such as nitrogen dioxide and carbon monoxide. Gas cooking generally calls for more airflow than electric or induction, though the right CFM for your kitchen depends on your range's BTU output, your cooking habits, and any local code requirements. Check the CFM listed on each model's product page, and confirm ducting and clearance details with your installer.

How much CFM does a 30-inch wall mount range hood need?

There's no single CFM number for every kitchen. HVI, a US ventilation standards body, recommends 250 CFM for a 30-inch wall hood (100 CFM minimum), based on width, not fuel type. For high-output cooktops, HVI defers to the cooktop manufacturer's own guidance. Victory's 30-inch models and configurations range from 450 to 750 CFM, so check each product page for the exact rating. Installed airflow is usually lower than the spec sheet number, since duct length, bends, and termination add resistance. For higher-CFM hoods, ask your local code office if makeup air applies, since that depends on other fuel-burning appliances in your home.

How loud are Victory's 30-inch wall mount range hoods?

Sones measure perceived loudness, lower means quieter. Victory's 30-inch models range from about 0.4 to 6.5 sones depending on model and speed: Twister runs 0.7-4.5, Elegant 0.4-6.5, Classic 1.0-6.0. Low settings sit near a quiet refrigerator hum; higher speeds trade quiet for more airflow. Twister and Elegant also come in remote-blower versions, which move the motor away from the hood and can reduce noise at the cooking area, though actual sound still depends on ducting and installation. Check each model's page for its exact rating.

What's the difference between an internal blower and a remote blower model?

The difference is where the motor sits. Internal blower models (Twister, Elegant, Classic) house the motor inside the hood canopy for a straightforward install. Remote blower models, called split systems, move the motor to a separate unit instead. That unit can be inline (in an attic or duct run) or mounted outdoors on an exterior wall. Either option can suit a specific duct path or reduce motor noise at the cooking area, though total sound still depends on ducting and installation. Only Twister and Elegant offer a remote-blower version; Classic is internal only. Filters and controls stay the same either way. Only the blower location and CFM options change.

Does a 30-inch wall mount range hood need a 6-inch or 8-inch duct?

Duct size depends on the exact model and blower type, not simply on wall mount versus remote. Elegant and Classic use a 6-inch duct at 600 CFM. Twister's internal blower uses a 6-inch duct at 600 CFM or an 8-inch duct for its full 750 CFM. The remote-blower versions run differently: Twister remote uses a 6-inch duct at 450 CFM or an 8-inch duct at 600 CFM, while Elegant remote's current configuration uses a 6-inch duct, rated at 450 CFM. A duct that's too small for the CFM setting raises resistance, which can add noise and reduce real airflow. Check each model's page to confirm its exact duct size.
