Choose 600 CFM (Sunset) for a 36 inch range or 900 CFM (Horizon) for a larger kitchen, and keep the duct run as short and straight as your layout allows.

What's the difference between a ceiling mount range hood and a hanging island range hood?

A ceiling mount range hood recesses flush into the ceiling, while a hanging island hood suspends below on a visible chimney. That difference solves headroom and sightline problems: with a flush install, there's no chimney to duck under or block your view in an open-concept kitchen. Victory's Sunset and Horizon both fit standard 16 inch ceiling joists running parallel to the install; perpendicular framing may need added blocking, so confirm joist direction before you order. An island mount hood keeps the visible chimney if you want the hood itself as a design feature; ceiling mount is built to disappear instead.

Does the blower come installed, or is it a separate purchase?

The blower ships already installed and included in the price on the Sunset and Horizon, so there's no separate blower to select at checkout, unlike some ceiling and island hoods where CFM and blower are priced separately. The Sunset includes a 600 CFM internal blower and the Horizon a 900 CFM internal blower with 4 speed settings. How loud is a Victory ceiling mount range hood at full power?

Victory's Sunset and Horizon both run between 1 and 6 sones across their speed settings. A sone is the standard unit for measuring how loud a fan sounds to the human ear; a higher number means a louder fan, and 1 sone is roughly the sound of a refrigerator running. Both use an all-metal centrifugal blower and a vibration-dampened motor to keep noise down as CFM increases. Run the hood on its lower speeds for everyday cooking and save full power for heavy smoke or searing.

Is a Victory ceiling mount range hood ducted or ductless?

The Sunset, Sunrise, and Horizon are designed for ducted installation, venting air outside through ducting rather than recirculating it back into the room. Sunset and Sunrise use 6-inch ducting and can route that duct out a side wall or straight up through the roof; the Horizon uses 8-inch ducting and vents through the roof only. If your kitchen has no path to an exterior wall or roof, Victory sells a Ductless Recirculation Kit built for 6-inch duct systems, which filters and recirculates air instead of venting outside, and is compatible with the Sunset and Sunrise.
